Download Content

Downloadable Content or DLC is a term that has become quite common when people talk about Video Games. DLC for anyone unfamiliar with games is a term used to describe extra pieces of games that people can download. These extra pieces are used to add new experiences that weren't included in the original product and have no direct impact on the player finishing the game.

I don't mind that games have DLC as they are a logical step forward from expansion packs with the use of XBox Live and the PS Store. The main problem I find with them is that in some cases they add barely any content what so ever to the game like map packs that include maps from previous games,  these packs cost something like £10.

Whats more annoying is when game developers flaunt the DLC in front of the players face reminding them that they do not have it. An example of this would be the first Dragon Age where there's a man who offers the player a quest. When the player tries to accept a window opens up prompting the player to purchase the related DLC containing the quest.

These are annoyances that are starting to dwindle a bit in recent years... Thankfully.
