Silent Hills

News of a new Silent Hill game has spread across the web like wildfire but that more than acceptable when considering who's behind it. Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) and Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's labyrinth, Pacific Rim) are collaborating to make one of the scariest games on Next gen consoles. Now your asking how scary could it be ?

In a rather new and very impressive strategy to announce the game a P.T. was released on the PlayStation store in the Gamescom section. Players who downloaded it weren't sure what to expect as the game wasn't announced until the end of the lengthy one hour and sixteen minute demonstration. Already people are saying that it could be the scariest game for a while in the series and why not. These are two people who can understand the meaning behind the game being a psychological thriller instead of a horror movie. Everything in the game is meant to have meaning not just be there for scares and the demo certainly delivers. We may not see anything in terms of gameplay of the end game but we get more than a good sight at how the atmosphere will affect the game and how the players progress through it.

I decided to play it at 5am which wasn't one of my best moves as I was nearly frozen to my sofa in fright.

In terms of technology the game will be powered by the Fox Engine that is behind the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain. One of the fascinating things about the Fox Engine is its ability to do motion capture in such detail that actors can perform their roles. Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) will be putting his voices and likeness into the game.

Early days yet but expect the release date to be next year or the year after.
